‘Nothing Better’: John Rich Shares Thanksgiving Highlights

Country music star John Rich — half of popular duo Big & Rich — is sharing his plans for Thanksgiving.
“This is my absolute favorite time of the year because you work your tail off all year long. You get to this part of the year, the weather cools off, the family shows up,” Rich said. “Nothing better.”
He continued, “We’ll probably be outside shooting skeet, hitting some targets, building a big campfire, you know, that kind of stuff.”
Rich will also have some extra help in the kitchen this year — 12-year-old son Colt.
“He has told me over the past couple of years he wants to be a chef,” Rich explained, adding that Colt gets his cooking inspiration from YouTube videos.
“I’ll be like, ‘What do you watch?’ And he goes, ‘I’m learning how to fry chicken. I’m learning how to make banana bread,’” Rich said. “He’ll send me to the grocery store to get a list of all these ingredients. He made yeast rolls the other night.”
Rich shares sons Cash, 13, and Colt, 12, with wife Joan.
“Raising your kids is the most important job a man or a woman has if they have kids,” he said of being a parent. “Spending time with my two boys … teaching them about the world they’re looking at today, getting them ready for what they’re going to run into when they become young men, that is job No. 1.”
In addition to being a devoted father, Rich is also a major country music star.
His latest single, “The Man,” honors his grandfather, a WWII veteran.
“Today I’m releasing the song and video I wrote this about my Grandfather’s service in WWII, but also for ALL our Veterans who have served over the decades on behalf of our nation,” Rich wrote on Instagram. “I hope this song reminds everyone of their family heroes who served, and brings a sense of American pride and honor to their hearts.”
He continued, “I was honored to have Veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm representing all the major conflicts we’ve been in since 1940 featured together in the video for ‘The Man.’ The Greatest Generation are the shoulders we have stood upon since WWII, and now it’s our turn to be the strong shoulders for future Americans. The bar has been set, it’s time to rise to the occasion.”

The Grammy-nominated singer said that he wrote his newest single, “Earth to God,” while observing how Americans reacted to the pandemic and the current election.
“Man cannot fix man’s problems, but God can and He’s still out there,” Rich, one half of the Big & Rich band, told Fox Nation’s Tomi Lahren.
“Earth needs to send an SOS to God … we need Him to make His presence known because that’s the only way to sort this out,” Rich said.
