GCU Basketball’s Gabe McGlothan Calls Baptism ‘The Best Accomplishment’

Grand Canyon University men’s basketball forward Gabe McGlothan is on fire for Jesus.

The athlete uses his social media platform to confidently and boldly share his faith with anyone who follows him.

He shared several photos of the day he was baptized, calling it “the best accomplishment I will ever have.”

He also posted Matthew 6:19-21, which reads:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

McGlothan explained what that means in his life.

“The way you store up treasures in heaven, is by investing in the people around you,” he wrote.

He added, “Don’t stop becoming rich in making believers in Christ. Growing up, before I had my faith, I always imagined if I were on a deserted island. What I would rather have with me? All the materialistic things I could ever imagine or a simple friend. I knew one I could last a lifetime with, a friend, and the other I’d get bored of eventually, the materialistic. Investing in my brothers is the best thing I’ve ever done.”

“These relationships that are being carried out through this season are ones that I cherish more than anything else because it’s rooted with God’s love,” the forward continued. “They’re my brothers and best of all it’s great to see them become my Brothers in Christ. This is a treasure that be rich all the way into eternity. Blessed for you brothers, love you into eternity.

Sports Spectrum reported, “McGlothan is the team’s leading rebounder for the second season in a row (7.7 per game) and its second-leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, while shooting 51.8% from the field. Grand Canyon won 24 of its first 26 games before losing two straight road games.”

“My plan was, you know, to play D-I basketball, but I never thought it’d be this big of a blessing, and God poured into that,” he told Sports Spectrum in January. “So, it’s a beautiful thing.”
