TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Director Enters Multi-Year Agreement with Paramount

Writer, producer and director Jeff Rowe has entered into a multi-year first-look development deal with Paramount Animation.

The deal comes after the success of last year’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM and the announcement of a sequel to come in the near future.

“Working with Paramount and having the opportunity to reinvent the iconic TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES characters has been a dream come true,” Rowe said. “I’m grateful to Ramsey and the entire team for this opportunity. It’s also my understanding that this deal will pay me in money instead of pizza, and I think that’s gonna be a real game-changer.”

“Jeff has been an instrumental creative force and excellent partner in breathing new life into our iconic TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES franchise,” added Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “I am so proud of the work we’ve done together and I can’t wait for audiences to experience the next evolution of our incredible collaboration.”

Rowe’s pedigree contains a long list of highly successful animation projects, including the Academy Award-nominated THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES – Netflix’s most popular animated movie during 2021 – along with the animated series GRAVITY FALLS and DISENCHANTMENT. He was also the creator of last year’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM.

MUTANT MAYHEM was a major hit for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Franchise, grossing $180.5 million worldwide. The movie also spawned a new series releasing this summer, a new video game adaptation and, according to Paramount, generated over $1 billion in retail sales for the brand.

The sequel to MUTANT MAYHEM, helmed by Rowe, is scheduled to be released in October 2026.

Movieguide® previously reported:

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM has made its mark at the box office despite heavy competition from movies like BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER.

MUTANT MAYHEM collected $15 million in its second week in theaters, placing third at the domestic box office. With its total gross reaching $72.8 million after this weekend, the movie has now surpassed its reported budget of $70 million.

The big-name cast helped draw a large audience, with voice talent including John Cena, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube and Hannibal Buress. MUTANT MAYHEM also captured a family audience through its emphasis on morals.
