COUNTY RESCUE Stars Celebrate Show’s Focus on ‘Faith And Family’

By Movieguide® Contributor

The stars of Great American Family’s first original series, COUNTY RESCUE, are sharing their thoughts on the show’s themes and what they hope viewers take away from it.

“I love the blend of the faith and family [themes] that you see in COUNTY RESCUE,” Kristin Wollett said in an interview with Movieguide®. “It’s so interesting to actually have the faith element with it because it’s a very demanding job…and so it addresses these real-life issues that people face.”

She continued, “We lean into all of that to explore where God shows up in all of that and the power that He has in all of these situations and what that looks like.”

A synopsis of COUNTY RESCUE reads, “With one paramedic opening, Dani Miller must set aside her recent heartbreak and prove herself worthy of the job while competing against the fire chief’s impulsive son and an over-qualified rookie.”

Wollett spoke about how helpful it was to have actual EMTs on set while filming, saying, “It was really a blessing to be able to just tap into the wealth of knowledge that they had for us on set.”

Co-star Brett Varvel added, “To step into the shoes of these people, so to speak, and to get to experience a taste—a small taste—of what they go through on a day-to-day basis has just given me such a deep appreciation for them.”

Varvel also touched on his hopes for what audiences will take away from COUNTY RESCUE.

“I think the relatability of the show is that it could cause people to lean into that question of ‘Maybe there is a God, maybe there is a God who loves me and maybe there actually is a plan for my life,’” he explained. “Our hope for the show is that it just encourages them to look deeper into the fact that they were created with a purpose in mind.”

COUNTY RESCUE is part of GAF’s ongoing efforts to expand its content lineup.

“We are continuing to build on the phenomenal growth of our media brand and are excited to now fully capitalize on the synergies now available with Sony and Great American Pure Flix. Our portfolio of content is a trusted source of family friendly and faith-based entertainment, and our 2023 results greatly exceeded our expectations,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media, via Deadline. “We are looking forward to having a positive impact on viewers and the entertainment business by creating quality content that can be enjoyed by the entire family.”

Abbott’s GAF will host the Movieguide® Awards broadcast on March 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The winners will be given Teddy Bear Awards® for promoting positive and uplifting content in their media.
