Warner Bros. is inviting fans of A MINECRAFT MOVIE to enjoy the story in a new way through the BLOCK PARTY EDITION — special screenings that allow fans to belt out during their favorite parts of the movie.
“Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures invite fans back to the theater to experience A MINECRAFT MOVIE together in a whole new way! You know the moments. You know the lines. You love the songs! Now it’s time to get loose, laugh out loud and belt out those lyrics like a true diamond-tier fan,” a description of the screenings explains, per The Hollywood Reporter.
“Calling all Steves! Even if you’ve seen A MINECRAFT MOVIE (and if you haven’t, now’s the time!), you haven’t seen it like this,” AMC added in its description of the screenings. “Get tickets now for A MINECRAFT MOVIE: BLOCK PARTY EDITION! Warm up your vocal chords, it’s time to SING ALONG (and wait for it: 3…2…1… MEME, too!) With Jason Mamoa, Jack Black and the entire gang in the beautiful, blocky Overworld (and beyond). Follow four misfits (and Steve) through the film’s musical Minecrat universe, where creativity (and now, singing!) is essential to survive.”

The introduction of these screenings meant for fans to get rowdy in comes after many expressed their excitement for the movie in rather unconventional ways at dozens of regular showings.
This has included screaming the lines during certain scenes, throwing buckets of popcorn and even some cases of people bringing live animals into shows that coincide with certain moments. While these actions have proven a headache for many theaters, it has helped contribute to the success of the movie, which has grossed nearly $380 million at American theaters, making it the most popular domestic release of the year, so far.

While not all of these actions will be allowed during the BLOCK PARTY EDITION screenings, it will help regulate some of the audience actions, while also making it easier to clean the theaters by funneling the chaos into one showtime.
Beyond the viral videos that have come out of audience responses to the movie, A MINECRAFT MOVIE has proven to be so popular because of its family-friendly messaging that has found a home with all audiences. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

It has a strong redemptive, morally uplifting worldview where people find meaning, strength, love, and courage in friendship to fight evil. A once self-absorbed character risks his life to save his friend. As the theater industry continues to struggle, it is encouraging to see family-friendly movies continue to rise to the top, encouraging Hollywood to continue to make them, as it is forced to cut production on other not-so-friendly projects.
