Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who frequently speaks about his faith, made history on Sunday, May 4, as his team defeated the Houston Rockets.
StatMamba reported that Curry’s plays during the playoff game made him the first player to have “the most Game 7s in NBA history with 20+ PTS on 50/40/90%” shooting.
Curry got off to a slow start in the first half as he shot one for seven from the arc. However, after halftime, he reminded everyone why he is one of the best shooters to ever play the game.
When the game was on the line, the athlete scored “14 out of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. He went 5-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from the distance as he helped seal the deal for Golden State,” Paolo Songco with Athlon Sports reported.
After the Game 7 win against the Houston Rockets, Curry, whose Instagram bio reads “believer” and cites Philippians 4:13, shared how his team got the job done.
“There’s a lot of resilience. Everybody’s stepping up. Everybody’s been talking about our team the last two games in terms of our execution, energy, all that,” he said. “We kind of blocked it all out and just understood we had 48 minutes to dig deep. Everybody contributed. Our defense was holding them under 90 after the last two games. Everybody stepped up. It was great to see.”
Despite Curry’s first-half performance, the Warriors were still up going into the second half. Instead of shooting the ball, Curry decided to make his defenders chase him around the court, which opened up his teammates.
One teammate, Buddy Hield, was open a lot, allowing him to tie an NBA Game 7 record with nine made 3-pointers.
Warriors power forward, Draymond Green, who also acquired 16 points in game 7, told the media after the game, “I think this group is capable of exactly what we set out to do, which is win a championship. We know the things we need to improve on and continue to get better at. But I got the utmost confidence in this group.”

Curry is ready for more as he and his team look to take on Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in round two of the Western Conference Finals.
