Candace Cameron Bure recently shared the faith-based advice her son, Lev, gave when she and her husband, Val, went through a rough patch in their marriage.

“[It was] going south quickly,” Bure said of her nearly-30-year marriage during an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” adding that she didn’t think the couple were going to “make it through.”

She continued, “At one point, Lev, Maks and Natasha [their children], but Lev was the one leading the charge, he came up to us and said, ‘We’d like to talk to you guys.’ Val and I sat down, and Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”

“I’ll never forget, ’cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the Word of God says,’” Bure recalled.

The FULL HOUSE actress said Lev asked his parents, “Have you done everything you can? Is there one step of grace, is there just some bit of more grace you can give? Is there one more act of kindness in you that you could give to try to reconcile?”

“When we walked away from that and Val and I were like, ‘Huh, we raised some pretty good kids,’” Bure remembered, calling it a “pivotal moment…[that] really changed” their relationship dynamic.

She concluded, “There was a lot more to it, but it’s a whole different scenario when your kids sit you down to have a talk and go, ‘Are you being as mature as you can be?’” she said. “I’m so grateful to Lev and Maks and Natasha. They were so supportive of everything.”

Lev is now bringing that gospel-centered thinking to his own marriage. Last year, he wed Elliot Dunham.

“I’m grateful for our generational blessing of long lasting Christ-centered marriages; to have a legacy of great-grandparents and grandparents who have shown us the way,” Bure posted on Instagram. “And now, being the example for our children and their children to come. If this isn’t a blessing, I don’t know what is. What a celebration it was!! The Holy Spirit was present, the gospel was preached and love filled the air.”

Bure recently spoke about the unexpected ways God has shown up in her life, telling Fox News, “Sometimes it’s the way I want Him to show up, and sometimes it’s the way I was hoping He wouldn’t show up, but He did.”

“What I’ve learned over the years in knowing Him and knowing His character is that He’s always there, literally always there,” she concluded.

Lev’s wonderful advice for his parents as they navigated a rough patch in their marriage is just another unexpected way God has shown up for Bure over the years.
