As a person of faith, actor Kirk Cameron loves listening to worship music that glorifies God, and he recently opened up about one of his current favorite praise songs.

“I have many favorite worship songs,” he explained on YouTube. “It’s depending on what I’m going through and where I’m at. There is a song by Chandler Moore called ‘King of Kings.’ Oh, my goodness, it just wrecks me when I listen to it.”

The chorus declares:

Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings

“It encapsulates the gospel and the birth of the new creation in Christ and the courage of the family of faith and the power of the gospel and the inevitable victory of the will of God,” Cameron explained. “I absolutely love it.”

Moore, a member of worship group Maverick City Music, recently released “Lead Me On,” which went No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart. It’s his third No. 1 song to date.

“I’m truly grateful for this moment,” he said of the accomplishment. “Seeing how ‘Lead Me On’ has touched hearts means so much to me. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey — this has been really special.”

But when it comes to modern Christian music or traditional hymns, Cameron has to go with hymns.

“I like both,” he explained on his podcast, “The Kirk Cameron Show.” “I feel like I’ve expanded my pallet musically, I can tell you what I prefer, and it tends to be different depending on where the situation where I am,” he explained.

He added, “If I had to pick or choose, I think I’d go with the hymns because hymns are theologically rich. They remind me of the gospel and point me to the glory of God and my need for his grace.”

Cameron explained how there is a special depth that classic hymns have: “I love so many of these modern worship songs, but there’s a reason why hymns have lasted 500 years.”

“They’re deep, they’re rich they connect us throughout the generations. It brings historical integrity and there is just something beautiful in the poetry of psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,” he continued, referencing Ephesians 5:18-20:

…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

No matter what style of worship song you prefer, it is important to uplift God in a biblical way. Cameron reminds us that there is something special in all types of worship music.
