NFL Wide Receiver Robbie Chosen joined the latest Sports Spectrum Podcast with Matt Forte, where he revealed what God is teaching him the most.

“I would say, I feel like one of the biggest things he’s been teaching me was on patience. And I feel like, when I look back in my life, I feel like that was something I wasn’t really taught and on, especially where I come from and the environment I came from,” Chosen shared. “It’s a, you know, fast life. Everybody expects everything so fast. And you know, you’ll see guys, where I come from, like they’ll get things fast. But you know, what comes fast doesn’t last.”

Chosen plays for the San Francisco 49ers, but previously had stints on the Panthers, Cardinals and Dolphins.

“I just think it’s just patience,” he continued. “Like, I was in church last week, you know, the pastor was preaching about trusting God in that gap. And even like, you know, he leaned on the book of Job, and, you know, he had a tough journey. And just understanding that, you know, the journey is the destination. So I’m just trusting God, and just walking my faith.”

In 2023, Chosen changed his name from Robby Anderson to Robbie Chosen. While at a football camp this past summer in Miami, Chosen explained why he changed his name.

“God led me to that,” Chosen said, per the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “I wanted to re-identify myself, and just the redirection of my life, just understanding how valuable decisions are and just wanting to represent God. Just create a new legacy for my children, for them, just what I live for now.”

According to Athlon Sports, when he was known as Anderson, Chosen “faced legal issues with multiple arrests and on-field issues early in his NFL career, likely what he was alluding to with the redirection of his life.”

Now, he’s focused on paving a better future for himself, his family, and the community around him.

“This is where I come from. I just want to give them an opportunity to come out here, have fun and know that it’s possible,” Chosen said of the youth camp. “I always try to be that person that would’ve helped me and try to be that person I would’ve looked up to.”

God has taught NFL wide receiver Robbie Chosen about patience. Especially in his season of waiting for a team to pick him up, Chosen knows now is the time to trust in God the most. As he remains patient, Chosen hosts youth camps for kids.
