LSU football freshman CJ Jimcoily participated in the annual “Rookie Talent Show” hosted by the Tigers and used the opportunity to share the gospel with his teammates.

“The Father said, ‘If you love Me, you’ll obey My commands.’ Do you hear this or do you listen to this?” Jimcoily asked his teammates as he began to preach a short sermon. “The Father says again, ‘May I say it so you may hear it and listen.’ Obey His commands.”

He continued: “See, we like to cling onto the [verse] ‘A weapon formed against you shall not prosper.’ We cling onto that and hear that. But are you truly listening? Because it is also said, ‘Do not engage in any form of sexual immorality.’ You’re laughing, but this is the truth. It is also said to love the Father above all things. To seek first Him and His what? To seek first Him and His righteousness.”

Jimcoily ended his sermon by asking his teammates to visualize themselves in a field with Jesus on one side, the pleasures of the world on the other and a fence in the middle. “The temptation is to sit on the fence and ‘play both sides,’ but in reality, he said, Satan owns the fence,” Sports Spectrum shared.

The freshman safety certainly isn’t afraid to boldly declare his faith. His Instagram bio features 1 Corinthians 10:31, which reads, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Jimcoily also shares his faith in posts on social media.

“🅿️roduct 🅾️f 🅿️rayer …” he wrote in one post alongside photos of him in his LSU uniform.

In another he said, “Many 🅱️ELIEVE, Who Will 🅾️BEY …”

Jimcoily and the LSU Tigers will be ready to take the field for the first time in the 2025 season this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

The Tigers will face the Clemson Tigers in what is known as “The Battle for Death Valley.”

Jimcoily, a “6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive back[,] was a consensus four-star prospect out of Lipscomb Academy, a private Christian prep school in Jimcoily’s hometown of Nashville, where he also excelled in the classroom and possessed a GPA higher than a 4.0. Jimcoily is not expected to start for LSU against Clemson, but due to his size and versatility, hopes are high for him to blossom into a defensive star in Baton Rouge,” Sports Spectrum reported.

Though Jimcoily could’ve kept his faith to himself, he knows that sharing God’s truth is the most important thing he could do.
