Kirk Cameron reminds us to live our lives with “one eye on eternity.”
“It’s really sad how many people, including myself at times, live in the schizophrenic craziness of eternity amnesia, forgetting that God actually built us not just for this life,” he said during a recent episode of “The Kirk Cameron Show.” “If anything, this is the short introduction to life that is truly life, eternal life, lived in the presence of God, forever.”
He continued, “We were built by God to live with a long view of life,” adding, “That’s how we ought to be living as Christians: one eye on the here and now, and one eye on eternity.”
“Our ultimate place, our ultimate identity, is all designed around the idea that we were made for eternity,” Cameron explained. “Recognizing that the story ultimately takes us into eternity with God forever on the other side of this physical life here on Earth. It helps us deal with the reality of the moment and the fact that it’s never going to be perfect…it helps us not to be hopeless, but fills us with confidence that all of this is a training ground.”

Cameron recently took part in Brave Books’ See You at the Library event at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C, where he read aloud from his book, “Pride Comes Before the Fall.”
“‘See You at the Library’ was an experience that exceeded my hopes and expectations!” he wrote in an Instagram post about the event. “This is what happens when faith doesn’t back down.”
Cameron continued, “Rather than begging for a seat at the cultural table, @bravebooks.us and I built a new one, and the Trump administration pulled up a chair. Three years ago we were being locked out of libraries; this year we were invited by the Department of education to the largest library in the world, the Library of Congress, to teach American children the truth about faith, hope, and love. With over 200 libraries participating, my, oh my… how the tides are turning!”
The actor also recently brought his latest screen project, kids’ show IGGY AND MR. KIRK, to Great American Pure Flix.
“I created this series with Brave Books to offer children and families a source of uplifting entertainment that’s both fun and meaningful,” Cameron said in a statement about the series. “With IGGY AND MR. KIRK, we’re committed to telling stories that parents can trust and kids can enjoy.”
Cameron’s recent remarks on eternity are a reminder to live with one eye on the eternal life we will live “in the presence of God.”
