Bay Turner highlights the wonders of the Lord as he makes his musical debut through his EP Better Days after recovering from an injury that left him without a voice.
“I had made peace with giving up my dream. My identity was no longer in singing,” Turner said in a statement while discussing the heart behind the EP. “I was more than just a singer, I was a son of God, and that was more than enough! But then an honest to goodness miracle happened. And that’s where we got the idea for this song [‘Brand New’]. He made me brand new, and, if He did it for me, He can surely do it for you.”

Turner nearly lost his voice for good in 2020 after an accident during a surgery left him with paralyzed vocal cords and the likelihood that he could never talk properly again, let alone sing.
“The anesthesiologist ended up damaging my vocal cord. The intubation ripped it and paralyzed the whole thing, so I came out of surgery with no voice, and a week goes by, and it’s hoarse. The second week goes by, and it’s even worse, and then a month goes by, and my voice is completely shot,” Turner told Movieguide®.
“So I went to an ENT and voice specialist doctor, and they said, ‘Yep, your vocal cord’s been messed with pretty badly…I don’t know if you’ll ever sing again, but I need you to go on total vocal rest,’” Turner continued. “So I went on vocal rest for some time… so me as a musician, my whole life I eat, sleep, breath music and to have to kind of put that away for a while was gut-wrenching.”
It was during that time when he had to put his identity as a singer aside that Turner began to focus more on the Lord and find his strength through Him. Miraculously, Turner’s voice returned, and he competed as a singer on Season 17 of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.
“I’ve always been the singer in my family so to get to a place with the Lord where I feel totally satisfied and totally worthy as just a son of the most high was a really sweet place,” Turner said.
The singer is now turning that praise back to the Lord through his music as he helps his fans praise God. His new EP marks the start of something new as it is the first time Turner has produced original music. It will exciting to see just how far he goes as he turns his testimony into an encouragement for all of his fans.
