Christian artist Danny Gokey has an important message for anyone going through a hard time.
“Do you struggle with the shame of what you’ve done, or the pain of what’s been done to you?” he captioned an Instagram post. “God wants you to know that He was with you then, and He is still with you today!”
Gokey continued, “You were & will always be WANTED by Him ~ let Him transform your darkest, most hopeless moments with His love!”

In the video he posted, the AMERICAN IDOL alum sings his 2019 track “Wanted,” which includes lyrics like “Trying to keep your head above the shame, you believe the lie that I am distant, but I hold you every day,” per LyricFind.
“What you see of yourself is not how He sees you. He sees you in the way He created you and not damaged by what that person did to you,” Gokey said in a statement about “Wanted,” via FreeCCM. “No matter how small the rejection or how big the rejection, [the heart of father God in which Jesus came] He came to bring us back to the father so that he could remove the blockages in our heart so that we can receive His goodness and receive His love. Know this, You’re wanted. You have a purpose.”
In a YouTube video detailing the writing process of “Wanted,” Gokey shared, “Something special happened that morning. God did something.”
He explained that he and co-writer Jess Cates drew on their experience of getting past a “dark moment” but still feeling “emotional residue…that hurts relationships and it affects my trust in God and my trust in people.”
After praying with a friend, Gokey said he “saw that, while God’s not only there in our darkness…He wants to replace the lies with the truth.”
Gokey often shares inspiring messages on social media, addressing followers who might be struggling with personal issues.
In one recent post, he wrote, “Don’t give up!” adding James 1:2-3 — “Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
“Keep praising God in the waiting ~ He is working out something greater in us, for our good & His glory!” Gokey concluded.
Gokey’s recent post is a reminder of God’s constant presence in our lives, even in our darkest moments.
