For Candace Cameron Bure, having open conversations is vital when raising children “as a parent of faith.”

“I would say, as a parent of faith, we’re teaching from a biblical perspective,” the FULL HOUSE actress said while appearing on the “Messmerized” podcast.

Bure continued, “We have guardrails, we have boundaries, but it’s being open enough to say, ‘There’s nothing you can’t ask. There’s nothing we can’t talk about. And I’m going to show you from why God says that, but I want to hear. If you disagree with God, you tell me why, and let’s talk about it.’ It’s just creating that safety zone.”

The actress previously spoke to The Christian Post about faith-based parenting, sharing, “We’re definitely in a time of a culture war, and I think the best thing that any of us can do as parents is to be consistent and that we actually walk our walk and we show it by example and not just talk the talk.”

“I trained my kids up with biblical values, and the Bible is where we started and what we continue to read today,” Bure continued. “Even when my kids were young, I had the fruit of the Spirit lettered on their walls to remind them of all of the fruit of the Spirit: joy, love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control. We talk about those things.”

She concluded, “The Bible tells us to ‘train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they won’t depart from it.’ I believe in intentional parenting. We taught out of the Bible, and I’m grateful to see that I have adult children today who are all following that road and that path, loving the Lord.”

The mother of three has a lot to celebrate these days — her daughter Natasha recently wed longtime boyfriend Bradley Steven Perry.

“We couldn’t have asked for a kinder man than Bradley to love and care for our girl,” Bure wrote in an Instagram post from the big day. “Natasha, you are radiant inside and out and are already the best wife to your beloved. My heart swells with happiness for you two. We love you both so much. May God bless all the days of your lives together.”

Speaking to PEOPLE about his wife, Perry shared, “Marriage to me is making a lifelong commitment to the person that you were born to be with. Natasha is that for me. I get to wake up every day and choose her and honor her. She is everything I’ve ever wanted.”

“I’m choosing Bradley every single day — in the fun and exciting times, and also the quiet or harder moments. We’re building a life together, side by side,” Natasha added.

Bure’s recent remarks on parenting “from a biblical perspective” encourage fellow mothers and fathers to keep conversations on faith open with their children.
