Candace Cameron Bure is passionate about the Word of God, encouraging fans to read their Bible as she speaks about a special event next year: America Reads the Bible.

“In April of next year, America is going to read the Bible together,” the Great American Family actress said on “The Eric Metaxas Show” last week. “We’re going to gather in Washington, D.C., at the Museum of the Bible, April 18th through the 25th, and it really is a spiritual lead up to America’s 250th birthday next year. And so I’m really happy to be a part of this.”

The Bible has deeply impacted Bure’s life.

“The Bible has changed my life,” she said. “I have a love for scripture, and that’s really what we’re doing here is to elevate the role of scripture in every sphere of the American life and cultivate a love for God’s word. And so, we’ll be uniting the body of Christ across every denomination, every generation, race, geography and political lines, and share the experience of scripture.”

The America Reads The Bible website describes the event as a “historic, week-long, continuous Bible-reading as leaders from every sphere speak the Scriptures aloud from beginning to end — reigniting America’s spiritual foundation as we celebrate 250 years of freedom.”

Bure explained that there will be “over 400 readers” at the event. “We are literally going to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in seven days, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It’s going to be live streamed, and then we’re encouraging people to plan.”

She continued, “It’s going to be 84 hours of reading, and then in between each speaker, there’s also going to be worship and prayer. So, it’s all going to be really beautiful, not boring in any way. And I think we’re going to get some professors that actually teach the Bible to read those harder books, like Numbers.”

Bure makes the perfect spokesperson for the America Reads The Bible event.

“Candace has been a trusted voice for faith and family values for decades, and we’re honored to have her serve as a top spokesperson for America Reads the Bible,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media. “Recent tragedy has reminded us how important it is to come together around faith and prayer. This historic event will allow us to share God’s Word in a way that will uplift and strengthen our country. We are honored to be part of such a meaningful celebration.”

Great American Pure Flix is the event’s production and distribution partner.

Hebrews 4:12 reminds us of the importance of God’s word: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Along with promoting the event, Bure frequently encourages others in their faith and is a light in Hollywood. This season, she is releasing two family friendly holiday movies: ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS and TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY.

Let’s follow Bure’s example and read our Bibles and draw close to God.
