FIXER TO FABULOUS’ Jenny Marrs recently shared the lessons traveling teaches her children.

“I love the way traveling together helps my kids see the world through a lens of compassion, kindness, patience, resilience and love,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. “Travel changes us and I’m back home today feeling immensely grateful that despite all the hard stuff happening in the world, we got to experience some of the good, together.”

In a graphic she posted to Instagram, Marrs shared that travel teaches her children to “always be open to new people and new connections,” to face dilemmas in new places that teach “valuable problem-solving skills” and that they are “capable of more than [they] realize.”

Marrs and her family recently traveled to Italy, a “place that brings us immense joy,” she wrote in another Instagram post.

“Surrounded by dear friends who feel like extensions of our family, with the everyday pressures of life stripped away, [it] was the perfect way to close out 2025 and fully embrace the new year,” she continued.

Marrs wrote, “Here on these ancient streets, we exhaled deeply together. We laughed heartily. We dispensed ‘auguri!’ freely and hugged old friends on the street. We nourished our bodies with real food, savoring the meals and the deep conversations. We soaked in the immense beauty of the landscape, snapping photos as cascading rays of sunlight painted the valley with a golden warmth. I boarded the train this morning with a heart that feels a little more stitched together and, yet, a piece of it was left behind. Alla prossima, Italia!”

The Marrs family spent a lot of time in Italy when they worked on FIXER TO FABULOUS: ITALIANO, a spin-off of their popular show, set in Europe.

“Renovating a house in Italy has always been a dream,” Marrs’ husband Dave told HGTV of the show before production began.

Marrs added, “But it’s very overwhelming. This is a 200-year-old house in a foreign country, and we can’t take unlimited trips to Italy with our business and kids back home. I just hope we’re not biting off more than we can chew.”

The couple also spent their honeymoon in Italy.

In an Instagram caption, Marrs shared, “Many years ago, there were two kids who loved adventuring together. Early in their marriage, they stepped off an airplane and onto magical soil where they fell in love with a foreign, yet, somehow familiar, land. Their souls exhaled. They made new friends who would remain in their lives in unbelievable ways for the next seventeen years.”

For the Marrs family, travel is a way to build memories together and to learn lessons about life, people and themselves.
