As 2025 comes to a close, it’s time to take a look back at the best family movies streaming on Netflix over the course of the year. From the adventures of a small bear in PADDINGTON 2 to the miraculous story of healing seen in MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN, this round up includes our favorite flicks that are safe for the whole family to enjoy.
THE STAR
THE STAR is a wonderful, hilarious, deeply reverential animated family movie centered on the birth of Jesus, but from the perspective of a lowly donkey named Bo. THE STAR is tremendous fun, with great moral, spiritual lessons along the way. It’s a must-see Christmas movie for every family.

MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN is a heartrending, faith-affirming drama about the true story of a 12-year-old girl suffering from a very serious medical disorder. The cast and the filmmakers do a beautiful job making this story come alive.

In PADDINGTON 2, Paddington the Bear is falsely accused of stealing, so the Brown family has to solve the mystery and fight to get him out of jail. PADDINGTON 2 is a funny, loveable, highly entertaining family movie with a strong moral worldview.

YES DAY is a funny, enjoyable family comedy streaming on Netflix about parents who say yes to their three children for one whole day. YES DAY has a morally uplifting, redemptive worldview about loving one another, making sacrifices for others and giving to your family.

DOG MAN (2024)
DOG MAN is a wacky animated comedy where a police officer and his trusty sidekick, a dog named Greg, are terribly hurt while chasing the supervillain Petey the Cat, a doctor attaches the dog’s head to the policeman’s body, and Dog Man doggedly pursues Petey, but Petey keeps escaping to create ever bigger dastardly schemes to “destroy all do gooders.” DOG MAN tells a funny, exciting story with many touching moments where love transforms the lives of both heroes and villains and doing good brings order out of chaos and happiness.

HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON
In HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, Harold is all grown up living in the pages of a book and wants to know where he comes from, so he enters the “Real World” with his purple crayon, which can create anything he wants. HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON is a silly, entertaining movie with some funny and heartwarming moments and a moral worldview that shows a positive, loving main character who’s looking for his creator.

TURBO
TURBO is a super-charged animated comedy about a little garden snail with big dreams, who gets endowed with special powers that enable him to qualify for the Indy 500. TURBO has loads of hi-octane fun for all ages, with a positive redemptive message about being your brother’s keeper.

THE WILD ROBOT
THE WILD ROBOT is an incredibly heartfelt, entertaining, humorous animated story about a robot falling in a storm from a plane and eventually having to take care of a young, orphaned gosling on an isolated island. WILD ROBOT is a very strong, adorable affirmation of a mother’s love and of kindness being a virtue, with strong elements of a Christological allegory.

WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGEANCE MOST FOWL
WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGEANCE MOST FOWL is a very funny British humor movie, with scary detective story elements, about an inventor and his dog who attract the attention of a criminal penguin when the man invents a gnome robot. Though too scary for younger children, WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGEANCE MOST FOWL has lots of humor and combines many classic detective story elements in a very entertaining way, with a strong moral worldview where love versus evil and the pitfalls and advantages of technology are handled with lots of laughs.

DESPICABLE ME 3
DESPICABLE ME 3 shows Gru losing his job with the Anti-Villain League and then meeting his long-lost twin brother, with whom he plans a heist against another villain so that Gru can get back his job. DESPICABLE ME 3 is a high octane, high energy mélange of several storylines that bring fast and furious jokes, fun, reconciliation, prayer, and family to the big screen.
