Erin Krakow is spilling all the secrets for WHEN CALLS THE HEART Season 13!
“There’s a lot to react to, respond to,” Krakow said during an appearance on “The Official Hearties Show & Podcast,” hinting at a big event that shakes up the residents of Hope Valley.
She explained, “We see all the ways that the residents of Hope Valley welcome their hearts and homes to this neighboring town who have…been through this terrible tragedy. That really opens up some exciting storylines and characters and relationships this season.”
Krakow promised “some high highs, some low lows, some drama, some comedy, and no shortage of romance,” adding that WCTH’s writers have done a good job of balancing “that levity and the drama.”

Another big piece of news? Lori Loughlin is reprising her role as Abigail Stanton in the show’s upcoming season!
“Obviously, I knew this was coming and I’m so excited,” Krakow shared. “It’s the best because, you know what? It’s reunions for many of the cast and crew who haven’t seen Lori in years. Obviously, she’s one of my best friends, we stay in touch…but getting to see the characters reunite — it’s just so loaded.”
She continued, “I’m just so thrilled for her that she gets to enter a new chapter of joy in her life, and we’re going to be there every step of the way to support her and celebrate her.”
The news broke in an Instagram post on the WCTH official account.
“BREAKING NEWS, #Hearties! People reveals exclusively that Lori Loughlin will return and that WHEN CALLS THE HEART is renewed for season FOURTEEN!” the post’s caption reads.
Michelle Vicary, Hallmark Media’s head of programming, told PEOPLE, “Since the series’ debut in 2014, the character of Abigail Stanton was a fan favorite and beloved by the Hearties. At its core the Hallmark brand is about hope, positivity and connection, which is also the central theme of WHEN CALLS THE HEART. We felt that season 14 was the right time to continue Abigail’s story with her return to this beloved series.”
Loughlin isn’t the only one returning to Hope Valley; Brooke Shields is reprising her role as Charlotte Thornton.
“I have been crazily wanting to get Brooke back on WHEN CALLS THE HEART for years,” Krakow said, via Good Housekeeping. “I am so excited we were able to make the timing work. She is a dream to work with.”
Season 13 of WHEN CALLS THE HEART premieres Jan. 4. We can’t wait!
