Movieguide® Awards host Cameron Mathison expressed his gratitude for being cancer-free six years after his first diagnosis.

“I just wanted to let everybody know that I’m very, very, very grateful that they all came back clear,” Mathison said in an Instagram video about his six-year scans. “My kidney function is actually even better. It’s improved since last year. I am six years cancer-free, and I could not be more grateful.”

In 2019, the Great American Family actor revealed that he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer. He underwent surgery to remove the cancer, as well as 20% of his right kidney.

“Also grateful for all the texts and emails and DMs and questions about how I’m doing…I put out there that I would let you know, and I guess I never did,” he continued. “I didn’t really necessarily think that people would be waiting to hear about it, but that’s so sweet, and that feels very, very good.”

“So six years cancer-free, super grateful,” Mathison concluded.

After Mathison found out about his cancer in 2019, he launched a business called Health360, a life-changing health and wellness plan that uses the “Vitality Select Program™ — a cutting-edge weight loss and wellness program that looks at you, your body, and your health from every angle,” the website explains.

“Just a few years ago, I was the most unhealthy I’d ever been, and I didn’t even know it,” Mathison said in a post in August. “Health360 is a functional health coaching company…not just a personal trainer, not just a nutritionist, not just a functional medicine Dr…a concierge tailored, all-in-one approach that looks at the full picture….360 degrees of your health, wellness, and longevity.”

While on the red carpet at the 33rd Annual Movieguide® Awards, the actor told Fox News Digital how his cancer diagnosis changed his view of health, saying that he “thought I was super healthy, but I wasn’t.”

“I learned things about my body and my natural genetic makeup that were off,” he explained. “Things like, I don’t detoxify very well. There are certain things that I have to be really aware of, so it really drove me to be more in-depth, a deeper, deeper dive on my health.”

So, he encourages other to be aware of what’s going on with their own bodies.

“Don’t be a hypochondriac and start thinking everybody’s got cancer, but I was really diligent about testing and paying attention to my body, and it saved my life. It definitely saved my life,” he said. “So that’s my main takeaway from this: you get a little ache in your gut, don’t think all of a sudden you’ve got cancer. But over time, if you do testing and blood work and different things and things are off over time, like, get an MRI, check it out.”

It’s incredible to see how Mathison used his cancer diagnosis to improve his health and promote healthy living for others.

Mathison hosts the Movieguide® Awards, which will broadcast on Great American Family on March 5. Stay tuned for more information!
