Louisiana State University commit Peyton Houston knew from a young age that he had a calling to play quarterback so he could bring glory to God.

“There’s really no balance, because it comes with the game,” Houston told Sports Radio Host, Cayden Kubler, of balancing faith and football. “I feel like when I was younger, I had the feeling that God had a purpose for me, a calling, and I was to play quarterback and play football. So I’m using every chance that I get to glorify Him and give Him all the glory to help the generations after me and the generations before me.”

Houston attended an Elite 11 camp, which is the “most Elite Quarterback Society in America,” an opportunity he doesn’t take for granted.

“It means a lot, but I really just come out here to have an opportunity to display what God has given me, just to provide for the future, and what I want to do in my later life,” the senior in high school said. “So, being able to come out here to compete with some of the top quarterbacks has been truly a blessing. Honestly, I get a great opportunity to be here.”

Aside from living out his God-given purpose, Houston hopes to retire his parents for all of their hard work to get him to this point.

“I got an opportunity, a lifelong goal of mine, to retire my parents. I have the opportunity to go to LSU and get my parents done with work and all the hard work they put in for me,” he said.

Houston announced his commitment to LSU on Sept. 15, 2025, as the “No. 1 ranked pocket passer in the SC NEXT Jr. 300.”

The athlete celebrated his commitment with a video and included a Bible verse in the caption.

1 Corinthians 14:33 reads, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace — as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.”

As Houston prepares for his senior year of high school football at the Elite 11 camp, he looks ahead to what he can learn before he heads to LSU in December.

“Just being a sponge, just soaking in as much as possible, these coaches have plenty of years of experience and knowledge, so just taking in as much as possible and bringing it back to my team,” he told Kubler.

Houston plans to continue to keep his faith at the forefront of his college career as he makes his way to LSU next year.
