It’s the collab we didn’t know we needed — Ed Sheeran wrote a song for the Backstreet Boys to sing for PAW PATROL: THE DINO MOVIE.

“They said there’s a great song that Ed Sheeran coincidentally wrote and has done the demo for you guys, and it was Ed Sheeran and Savan [Kotecha], a little bit of a Max Martins camp,” Howie Dorough told FM 106.7 of how the song came about. “They presented this song to management and said, ‘We’d love to see if the guys would be interested in performing it, recording it for the new PAW PATROL soundtrack.’ And we were like, ‘Okay, let’s take a listen to it.’ I think after the first listen, we all were like, ‘Absolutely.’”

Titled “Bottled Up,” the song officially debuted on June 12.

“First of all, Ed sounded so great on the demo. It was like, how are we gonna top this? But I think we actually did a good job,” Dorough said.

Brian Littrel chimed in, “Well, there’s five us. We had five shots.”

For the Backstreet Boys who are dads, it meant a lot to work on such a special project.

“I was so nostalgic for me,” said Nick Carter. “I mean, when I was, when my son was born, that was the first cartoon we were watching, you know…bought the toys, watched every single episode, you know, pass it on to my girls, and so, like, we’re still watching it.”

“We had got the music video sent to us, and it wasn’t finished yet, and I played it on my TV, and my girls were both sitting there watching it, and they’re like… ‘That’s like Daddy’s song,’ and they were singing it, and they were just singing after it was played, and so that’s when you can really tell if it’s like, with especially with a child, if they’re singing it. My daughter was like, ‘Dad, that song stuck in my head.’ I’m like, ‘That’s a hit record. That might be a hit record,’” Carter added.

The music video featuring the Backstreet Boys dropped last week too.

“Take this moment/ And bottle up this feeling,” members Carter, Dorough, Litrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson sing. “‘Cause when I watch you dancing, I’m undеr your command/ Just one touch, you got me right in the palm of your hand.”

PAW PATROL: THE DINO MOVIE releases on Aug. 14, 2026. It follows the pups after they crash land on “an uncharted tropical island filled with dinosaurs.”

“The PAW Patrol pups are thrown into a series of high-stakes, dino-sized rescues bigger than anything they’ve done before, as they must stop Humdinger before everything on the island goes extinct,” the synopsis reads.

“This is the biggest adventure the pups have been on by far,” director and co-writer Cal Brunker said. “It’s my favorite PAW Patrol movie yet, definitely an adventure to experience on the largest screen possible!”

With the Backstreet Boys collab, it looks like THE DINO MOVIE wants to pull in young audience’s millennial parents, too.
