Proud mom and actress Laura Linney opened up with PEOPLE about the joy she finds in her son’s kindness and why she loves motherhood.
“Linney says her ‘heart explodes’ when she sees her 9-year-old son being ‘kind to someone,’” PEOPLE recently reported.
“A pregnant woman went up to my husband and said, ‘Is that your son?’” Linney spoke about her son, Bennett. “He said, ‘Yes.’ And she goes, ‘I want you to know that he took my bags as I walked up the stairs. He carried my bags for me.’ And he did that without us being around. It was just sweet.”
Linney, who starred in the Movieguide® Award-nominated movie SULLY, previously spoke to PEOPLE about the joy she experiences as a mom.
“Motherhood changes you on a cellular level. It literally infuses the cells of your body, and they behave differently,” she said. “Fatigue is different. Joy is different. Fear is different. Anxiety is different. All of your emotions become more potent.”
“In the first year of being a mom, I realized there were muscles in my face that had never been used before. When looking at my son, I was smiling in a way I never had before. My face was sore all the time,” Linney said.
Linney told the Belfast Telegraph that motherhood takes its toll on her sleep schedule but added that Bennett is “a wonderful gift that I am so grateful for. Sure, it’s exhausting, like it is for everybody, but I had always dreamed of being able to say, I’m tired because I have a child, so I’m grateful.”
PEOPLE also asked her what “mom brain” looks like for her. The actress replied, “It usually has to do with things that shouldn’t be worn together, like clashing patterns. My husband will look at me as I’m about to walk out the door and go, ‘Really?’”
