AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s Season 19 winner Richard Goodall credits his wife for “support[ing]” him in all parts of his life — including his recently-revealed adoption story.

“This amazing woman continues to change my life for the better!” Goodall wrote on Facebook under a photo of himself and wife Angie Vanoven. “As an infant I was adopted and never told the story of my biological parents and family. Angie continues to support me in all areas of life. Love you more than you can ever know!”

Goodall and Vanoven wed in 2024 shortly after he performed in the AMERICA’S GOT TALENT finals.

“An amazing night day and night last night married to my love with my agt family attending and we got the pleasure of eating in Malibu on the beach at moonshadows!” he posted on Facebook. “So blessed and eternally grateful.”

Goodall, a school janitor, auditioned for AGT after a video of him singing Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” in the hallways went viral.

“Never at any point did I ever have any aspirations to perform. I mean, I’ve always wanted to perform, but it’s never been a drive of me to be famous or be noticed,” he shared during an appearance on the “Tell Us About Yourself” podcast. “It’s more of a ‘music and people’ thing than a ‘hey, here I am, notice me type thing.’”

Goodall continued, “Each song that I sing is a time capsule into people’s lives. It takes you back to a certain point in time. That’s what all of this is about.”

While Goodall said the $1 million prize was “life-changing,” he hasn’t quit his job as a janitor.

“I’m still at the school, but things are going on behind the scenes, you know, some concerts are popping up,” he told NBC. “A lot of amazing things are just popping up, and so I’ll continue to work at the school until, you know, I can’t anymore.”

Goodall said people at the school were excited about his AGT win “at first, but they see me every day, so it’s kind of like, they still remember me from the show, but they see me every day. So the fame is starting to wear off, I guess.”

“I don’t necessarily call it fame,” he joked. “But they, you know, most people do, definitely here in Terre Haute, Indiana.”

AGT fans were excited to learn a little more about Goodall’s past and are ready to see where his musical career takes him!
