By Movieguide® Contributor

Amy Grant and Gladys Knight will be able to add Kennedy Center Honorees to  their accolades along with rock band U2, actor and philanthropist George Clooney  and Pulitzer Prize winner Tania León.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever receiving this prestigious  Kennedy Center Honors,” Amy Grant said in response to the news.

The six-time grammy winner continued, “I cannot wait to  celebrate with my fellow Honorees, friends, and family. Thank you for widening  the circle to include all of us.”

Grant even made her way into movies with the Netflix movie A WEEK AWAY.

Movieguide® Awards Gala Performer Gladys Knight, aka the “Empress of Soul” also shared her excitement for being an  honoree stating

“I’m humbled beyond words to be included amongst this prestigious group of individuals, both past and present. You could never have told  me as a young girl starting my career that I would be honored on a  stage such as this, with artists and humanitarians such as these—it  just wouldn’t have seemed possible. It would have been the dream of  all dreams. I have been blessed with so much in my life and this  certainly stands with those achievements at the top of that list.”

The seven-time Grammy winner shared how her mother was an example of faith, even praying with her and her other band members of The Pips.

As reported by Movieguide®:

“Mom showed us—the band and me—how we could carve out a little  sacred space no matter where we were. In the music business in the  ’60s and ’70s that was no small feat!” Knight wrote. “Mom gathered  us together backstage before a show one night. “Join your hands  together and squeeze tight,” she said, her head lifted toward heaven.  “Now, give thanks with all your heart!” One by one, we dedicated our  music to the glory of God.”

The Kennedy Center honors artists with outstanding and influential collection of  work in dance, theatre, opera, music, and television. This will be their 45th year of  presenting the honors and will be recognizing the artists December 4, 2022.
