An animated series based on the hit “Magic Tree House” children’s books is officially in the works!

“After many years of dreaming of this moment, I’m delighted to share that Magic Tree House is officially coming to life as an animated series!” Mary Pope Osborne, the series’ author, shared on Instagram.

She shared that she is “deeply grateful” to tech-based entertainment company Spuree and production company Rideback Ranch “for helping bring Jack and Annie to the screen in a way that truly honors my vision of the series.”

In a statement given to Variety, Osborne said, “For many years, I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to adapt my books into a series for the screen in a way that would allow me a real seat at the table — an experience authors almost never have when their work is adapted for other media.”

“But now, finally, thanks to the forward-thinking teams at Spuree and Rideback, I’m able to have that and bring my handpicked creative team along with me to realize my long-held dream of bringing ‘Magic Tree House’ books to the screen in a way that feels true to their spirit,” she continued.

The animated series will be launched on both digital and streaming platforms, and will include educational outreach through networks for parents, teachers, and librarians. Osborne and her husband and creative partner Will Osborne will serve as executive producers.

Spuree co-founder Michael LoFaso said, “The ‘Magic Tree House’ universe is a perfect match for Spuree’s vision. It’s rich, beloved, and full of narrative possibility. With Mary Pope Osborne and her team at the heart of the process, we ensure that the animated series honors the legacy while reaching new audiences.”

Rideback Ranch also shared their excitement, posting on their official Instagram page, “Rideback is thrilled to be a part of this exciting project alongside our parters Spuree and best-selling author Mary Pope Osborne and her globally beloved Magic Tree House book series.

“Rideback will be working closely with the creative and technology teams at Spuree and with Mary and her handpicked team to bring this iconic franchise to life in 3D animation, using Spuree’s proprietary technology, with the artists and storytellers leading the way,” the post continued.

The “Magic Tree House” series was first published in 1992, selling over 194 million copies worldwide and encompassing over 100 titles.

There’s no word yet on when the “Magic Tree House” series will debut, but fans of the beloved book series can’t wait to see it brought to the screen!
