Lionsgate acquired Andrea Bocelli’s biographical documentary, ANDREA BOCELLI: BECAUSE I BELIEVE, to release to theaters worldwide.
“The reason I welcomed with enthusiasm and gratitude the proposal to capture my entire life on film by Cosima — in its entirety, without filters — is reflected in the very title of the documentary: BECAUSE I BELIEVE,” Bocelli told Deadline following the documentary’s debut last September at the Toronto Film Festival. “I believe in people, in life, and in our heavenly father who gave it to us.”
“I believe in the power of love — the force that moves the world — a love I have humbly tried to witness through my music and my life. It is for the sake of this message — of which I remain but a modest messenger — that I hope this film will be seen,” he continued.
Bocelli has previously discussed how God inspires his work his work and his desire to point people back to Him through love as he shares his wonderful music.
“The source of my inspiration is always the same, and I can summarize it in one word: love. Love across the board: sensual love, love for life, for beauty, for the brotherhood that unites us, and for He who created us,” Bocelli told Grammy.com in December 2023. “I believe that there is a purpose conceived for each one of us. Every life is a story that reflects a specific plan. Every woman, every man is born with a talent that is a gift by heavenly design. It is up to our conscience, to our free will to cultivate and honor it or vice versa squander it.”

The legendary singer previously shared where his strong faith comes from in the first place. Without it, he feels that life would be meaningless and he would have lost himself in despair because he would not have hope of a brighter future to come.
“For me, I can say [my faith] is a reason for life,” he said. “If life didn’t exist, an eternal life, a life after life, then everything would lose all meaning. So, my faith comes from extremely simple reasoning. I do not believe in the clock without the clockmaker. Therefore, I have faith. I have a lot of faith in the one who made the world.”
“In my case, not having faith would mean living in despair. My life would be an inevitable tragedy, because life on this Earth ends with death…Faith is a truly priceless gift that I try to maintain and deepen, and it supports me day after day,” Bocelli confessed.
ANDREA BOCELLI: BECAUSE I BELIEVE will be released to theaters worldwide on Sept. 21, 2025.
