Angel Studios’ AFTER DEATH Lands Strong Opening Weekend

AFTER DEATH had a strong opening weekend, placing fourth at the box office as it made its mark as the twelfth highest-grossing opening for a documentary of all time.
The movie brought in an estimated $5 million over the weekend as it explored the question, “What happens after we die?”
“This weekend, the success of AFTER DEATH underscores cinema’s vital role as a powerful communal space for pondering profound questions, igniting the deepest yearnings, and fostering collective hope,” said Brandon Purdie, Executive Vice President, Global Theatrical Distribution at Angel Studios.
To answer the existential question, the movie incorporates testimonies from survivors of near-death experiences and experts in the field, including Don Piper, Dr. Mary Neal, John Burke, Dr. Jeffrey Long and Dr. Raymond Moody. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

“I’ve found that there are a lot of people in this world who are hurting and searching for answers. I have a deep personal connection to the stories we’ve included in our film, which is why I’ve dedicated the past six-plus years of my life creating this in hopes that it becomes a beacon of hope for others,” director Stephen Gray told the Washington Examiner.
“For skeptics, my hope is that this film opens the door to begin to ask important questions,” he added.
The early success proves that the popularity of recent faith-based projects, such as SOUND OF FREEDOM, is more than just a one-time phenomenon. There is a strong Christian audience who desire content that speaks to their faith.
