Anne Wilson Reveals What It’s Like Collaborating with Matthew West

Anne Wilson appreciates her colleague and friend Matthew West.
In an interview with K-LOVE host Carlos Aguiar, Wilson was asked, “What’s something about Matthew West none of us know?”
“Oh man,” she laughed. “I feel like, he’s so funny. I feel like you probably know that, and you’ve probably seen that. “
“He wrote the quarantine song, so we’ve experienced this a few times,” Aguiar added, referencing a funny song West wrote during the 2020 pandemic.
“He’s so random too, like we’ll be in the middle of talking and he’ll just like turn around and say something so random. And he’s just so much energy, and like what you see is what you get with him. He’s genuinely that fun and that exciting and hilarious,” Wilson continued.
She added, “So it’s always such a joy to be around him.”
West and Wilson have collaborated on several songs including “Me on Your Mind” and “My Jesus,” which climbed the charts to be a No. 1 hit after its 2021 release.

Pardo collaborated with West and Wilson on “My Jesus,” which became Billboard’s No. 1 song on the Christian charts when it was released in 2021.
“There’s just moments when you write that…I feel like God gives you something,” he said of the song. “I think though…if there’s anything I can point to, I just think it’s there truth in the song.”“I think it just feels true for a lot of listeners, and as a writer…it’s incredibly life-giving, and I’m incredibly grateful that our listeners are connecting with it the way they are,” Pardo added.
“The unprecedented success of ‘My Jesus’ is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to see what is to come for Anne,” Capital Christian Music co-presidents Brad O’Donnell and Hudson Plachy said at the time.
Since then, she’s continued to make her mark on the Christian and country music worlds.
She’s been nominated for a Grammy, has won several K-LOVE Fan Awards, scored an American Music Award nomination and performed at the Grand Ole Opry, among many other accomplishments.
“It’s the heart of Christian Music, the sound of Country…and the hope of Jesus,” Wilson says of her music. “I hope it all points back to Him.”
