Anxious? Christian Singer Says Thank God
By Movieguide® Contributor
Grammy-winning Christian artist Natalie Grant is directing us to focus on gratitude when worry starts to overwhelm you.
“Gratitude and anxiety/worry cannot exist in the brain at the same time,” she said during an episode of TBN’s PRAISE. “So you think, ‘Oh, if I’m feeling anxious, if I’m feeling worried about something’ — if you begin to go, ‘Okay, I’m going to thank God. I’m going to thank God.’ And sometimes I’m like, ‘Okay, but in this moment, actually, I don’t even — I know there’s things I could be thankful for, but I’m overwhelmed by this; so much that I can’t even think about the things I’m thankful for.’ But all of us can recall something, some moment, that God showed up, God did something.”
Grant continued, “So, if you’re stressed out today or worried today, just begin to thank God. Recall a moment that He was good, that He did remember you, that you know that He’s been good to you. If you have air in your lungs, He’s been good to you. And begin to thank Him over and over and over again. Thank Him, thank Him, and that gratitude will actually — that worry can’t exist in your brain at the same time when you’re giving thanks to God.”
