Auburn baseball team chaplain Mason Maners makes a big impact on the baseball careers and faith of his athletes, like Ryne Farber and Christian Chatterton.

“Yeah, Mason, he does an unbelievable job. Kind of crazy. Like, three years ago, he was playing for Auburn, and he was also like, really good here,” Chatterton said of Maners on Sports Spectrum’s “What’s Up” podcast.

“He’s been an incredible resource to me and to everybody else,” Farber added. “Like, there was a day yesterday where, or a couple of days ago, we were in the outfield and outside of our team Bible studies. Like, he just comes up, and he’ll talk to you. He wants to know how you’re doing. Wants to know how your walk is going.”

The two Tigers value their time on the team because of how many of the players are “all-in for Jesus.”

“I think this team is also special in the way that, like a lot of our guys on our team are all in for Jesus, and a lot of that credit has to go to Mason for sure,” Chatterton said.

“You don’t have to go outside of the stadium to find people to grab a hold to help grow in your faith,” Farber continued. “I think community is so important, and to have people who are all wanting to be great baseball players, but more importantly, be great people and to grow towards the Lord is awesome.”

In 2025, Maners shared a snippet of the gratitude he has for serving as Auburn’s team chaplain.

“Glory and praise to the Lord for this incredible year!” he wrote in a post on social media. “Serving as Chaplain for this team has been one of the greatest privileges and deepest joys. I’ve been continually overwhelmed by the goodness and grace of the One who is faithful in every season. He is truly worthy of everything. Grateful for all He’s done — excited to be back in August!”

Just three years prior, Maners was an Auburn Tiger himself.

“Hanging up the spikes and excited for the next chapter! Lord, you have blessed me beyond measure for the past 23 years, and you’ve blessed me with the opportunity to play baseball for at least 18 of them,” he wrote on Instagram. “Through baseball, you have given me countless friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. My help and strength come from you and I will continue to sing your praises in all that is to come!”

It looks like Maners’ strong faith is making a difference in Auburn’s baseball program.
