Baylor University wide receiver Josh Cameron revealed why he reads his Bible every morning and every night.
“I’m in my word every morning, every night, really just kind of before I get the day started, because that’s kind of the foundation,” Cameron told Sports Spectrum. “Whenever I kind of get started, I’m really just focused on the Lord before anything else.”
“There can be so many distractions in the world, so many things going on that can kind of take you from His presence and just take you from really just how good He is and how He’s brought me to this moment,” the athlete continued. “He’s really given me the ability to speak, to run, to walk, the ability to do everything.
“Anytime I get the chance to kind of glorify Him…as I’m doing right now, I give him all the glory for everything that I do, I’m going to do, and I’ve done,” he said.

Cameron often uses his social media platform to tell others about his faith in Christ.
“Thank you Lord I give you all the Glory through it all. My whole life is in your hands!” Cameron wrote in a post from early in the season.
He also referenced Ephesians 6:12, which reads, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Cameron declared for the NFL Draft at the end of 2025, and in his announcement, he first gave all the honor and glory to God.
“First, I want to thank our Lord and Savior for allowing me and blessing me with the ability to play the game of football,” he wrote.
“Next, I want to thank all the coaches that have poured into me, propelled me to this level, and helped me achieve so much in my time playing,” Cameron continued. “To Coach Baker and the ‘Goons,’ we are brothers for life. Thank you Coach Aranda for taking a chance on me as a walk-on to scholarship player. I wouldn’t be who I am today without the many lessons that were taught to me through the years. Thank you, Baylor, and all the wonderful staff that helped transform me from a boy to a man. I will always cherish the memories I made, the people I met, and the friendships that were built; Baylor will forever be home.”
“To my Mom, Dad, Justin, NaNa, Aunt Sonya, Aunt Cle and family: all the trials and tribulations led us to moments like this,” he added. “Thank yall for your constant covering and reminder of who, I am, why I am, and lastly, a reminder that God’s plan never fails. To my fiancée, Joy, you are my rock and thank you for being my everything.”
Cameron concluded his announcement with Joshua 1:9, the same verse he has written in his Instagram bio.
The verse reads:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
It’s incredible to see athletes like Cameron use their platforms to bring honor and glory to God.
