Bear Grylls has done some incredibly courageous things in his career as a survival man, but it’s only because his faith helps him through his fears.
“My Christian faith has been quite a strong part of my life for many years,” Grylls explained to Fox News Digital. “I have to deal with a lot of fears every day, like all of us, but I think in the wild those fears are also very visceral, and especially on RUNNING WILD, you’re…standing aside people who’re facing their fears as well of heights or water or crocodiles or snakes and just the fears of life.”
His faith helps him stand on solid ground when he faces fears.
“My faith helps me deal with those fears because it means we are not alone, you know? We have the almighty in our heart and the light of Christ to guide us,” he said. “That’s been a personal but powerful and beautiful thing through my life.”

The RUNNING WILD star recently reflected on God’s grace on social media.
“My faith has taught me that grace covers the gap between who we are and who we’re trying to become,” Grylls shared alongside a photo of himself when he was young. “We’re all a work in progress. Just keep moving forward.”
“[M]y Christian faith has strengthened me in so many battles I’ve faced in life,” Grylls said. “…I have discovered that we lose our power when we try to live on our own strength alone. I really need His helping hand, His peace within and that quiet assurance.”
Last year, he wrote a book, The Greatest Story Ever Told, which is a retelling of Jesus’ life.
He said of the book, “The story I have written in my new book is His story, Jesus’ own story, told from the perspective of the first eyewitnesses. I deliberately stuck closely to the accounts recorded in the four gospels, though some dialogue and other details have been added for context and flow. But not a single word of Jesus has been changed from the original accounts in the New Testament.”
He has a dream that the book becomes one of the most read books in history. On Amazon, it ranks as #5 in the Jesus, the Gospels & Acts category and is among one of the top 500,000 books on the platform.
He shared on Instagram last year, “Win or lose, it’s genuinely been a life goal and life mission to write this book. If I had to pick one work achievement in my life, this would be it…What is inside is empowering so many people’s lives already. 💪”
What an encouraging reminder that we can turn to God with our fears.
