Bunnie XO, a former prostitute and wife of country artist Jelly Roll, says God has gradually transformed their lives.
“God has always had his hand on our lives, but we strayed from Him for the longest time…” she explained on the TODAY show. “[Jelly Roll] grew up in a methodist household. I grew up southern Pentecostal, but I also strayed far from Him and dabbled in things that I thought would fill that void and he [Jelly Roll] went down his own path too.”
Now, they make their faith a priority.
“We do love Jesus, and we want to tell the world that we love Jesus and we want to show the world that God is working on us. And we’re works in progress,” she said. “We’re not perfect.”
“We are not…role models,” she continued. “But we want you guys to know that if God can work through us, He can work through you.”

Last April, Bunnie and Jelly received some criticism for their faith.
“We have always attributed being able to get through our darkest times because of leaning on God,” Bunnie responded in a TikTok video.
“We pride ourselves on being spiritual and not religious,” she said. “Meaning we don’t judge people and we try to lead with love; it’s an action. We’re not sitting here saying we love Jesus or that Jesus is our home boy; we just do it.”
Jelly Roll won a Grammy this month for his album Beautifully Broken. He credited God for the win.
“Jesus, I hear you, and I’m listening,” he said when he accepted the award. “Lord, I am listening.” He held up a little red Bible and went on, “There was a time in my life, y’all, that I was broken. That’s why I wrote this album.”
“I didn’t think I had a chance, y’all. There were days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human,” he said.
He recalled the time he was in prison, and all he had was a Bible, a radio and his voice.
“I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life. And I want to tell y’all right now Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party.”
“Jesus is not owned by no music label,” he said. “Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with Him. I love you, Lord.”
Amen to that.
