Candace Cameron Bure Says Christmas Is ‘Perfect Time’ To Share Gospel
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure is sharing why Christmas is her favorite time of year.
“I never thought that I would be known for Christmas in my career, truly,” Bure laughed, referring to her many popular Christmas movies, while on an episode of brother Kirk Cameron’s TAKEAWAYS. “It is something that I absolutely love. I’m so grateful to God that…I get to make Christmas movies, and people are going to come to know them and love them, and I get to look forward to making them every year.”
Bure added, “Everyone’s a little nicer, a little kinder during Christmas…it comes with so much emotion. It comes with happiness, it can sometimes come with sadness…it comes with remembrance.”
“It is the easiest and most perfect time to actually share the gospel message and share God and Jesus with people,” the actress said. “So I love that God has given me a platform, or a talent and an ability that I get to make these.”
Bure shared that the Christmas season is a wonderful time to invite people to church services.
“I know the work that God can do in hearts,” she said. “So it just lends all the goodness…it’s the best time of year.”
Bure often talks about why she loves making Christmas movies and why she thinks they’re so popular with audiences.
“The biggest thing about Christmas movies in general is that people make fun of them — and yet people love them,” she told Variety. “It’s because they’re predictable: You know that someone’s going to fall in love. You know it’s just going to be happy and warm. And people run to that, especially at the holidays.”
Bure is one of Great American Family’s biggest stars and serves as chief content officer for the network.
“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” she said of her work with GAF. “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Bure’s love of Christmas and why she sees it as the perfect time to give back:
Though Candace Cameron Bure is generous year round, Christmas time is an excellent opportunity for the Christian actress to speak openly about how she and others can bless people in need this holiday season.
“Christmas isn’t canceled. We still want to be there to help. So we’re asking you to help us rescue Christmas to serve those in need,” the actress told The Christian Post.
Christmas holds a special place in the actress’ heart.
“Christmas is my favorite time of year for so many reasons. The biggest reason is that we celebrate Jesus Christ,” Bure said. “It can be a hard season for so many people and that’s why the work that I help do with The Salvation Army is so important — because there are so many people in need, especially during the holidays.”
Bure said that the work of The Salvation Army is especially crucial during the holiday season and is a time for people to share the love of Christ with others.
“My honest wish is for people to know Jesus Christ. It always is. It’s my goal in life. It’s my mission in life. I love people and I want to share with them the best news I’ve ever known in my entire life.
“That’s the good news of Jesus Christ and there’s no better time, there’s never a bad time, but there’s no easier time to share the Good News with people than at Christmas time because it’s the whole reason we celebrate.”
