Carrie Underwood Calls ‘Singing In Church’ Her Favorite Christmas Memory

By Movieguide® Contributor

As everyone prepares to celebrate the Christmas season, country superstar Carrie Underwood shared her favorite holiday memories!

The singer was recently asked to share her favorite holiday memory and, of course, Underwood went with something musical.

“Singing the inspirational Christmas songs I love so much is still one of my favorite holiday memories,” she said. “Those times singing in church were the heart of my Christmas album “My Gift” and my album of gospel hymns, “My Savior.”

Underwood frequently performs Christmas songs from her holiday album—most memorably, in an HBOMax Christmas special.

Movieguide® previously reported on the special:

Carrie Underwood will perform songs from her first Christmas album for an HBO Max holiday special.

The 11-song album, titled My Gift, is available today, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear Underwood sing the songs live in the special.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said, “Carrie Underwood is a multi-faceted talent and we are thrilled to be partnering with her and our friends at Playtone to bring a dose of holiday cheer.”

Underwood shared how the album impacted her, saying she was “thrilled” to share it with the world.

“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” the country star said. “Creating this album has been good for my heart, and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”

The special is set to hit the streaming service sometime this holiday season.

Movieguide® also previously reported on Underwood’s Christmas album:

Carrie Underwood wants to put God at the forefront of her upcoming Christmas album.

“For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this,” she said. “Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”

The mother of two released the full track list, and it features several holiday songs that honor God, as well as a song that features her 5-year-old son, Isaiah.

Classics like “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” are just some of the songs on the new album.

Isaiah’s voice can be heard in the song “Little Drummer Boy.”

Other songs include “Let There Be Peace,” “Sweet Baby Jesus,” “Hallelujah,” “O Holy Night,” “Mary, Did You Know,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Back in July, Underwood released a statement about her upcoming music.

“It’s been a long time coming,” she said. “I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection.”

The 11-song album, titled “My Gift,” will hit stands on September 25.
