Chargers Running Back Thanks Jesus After Recent Win

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins is giving the glory to God following a recent win.

“I just want to thank Jesus,” he said during a post-game interview. “All the stuff I’ve been through; I just keep praying, keep working hard, and I got [my team] with me, man.”

Dobbins led the team to victory during a close game against the Cincinnati Bengals, running a 29-yard touchdown that ultimately won the game for the L.A. team. The Chargers won, 34-27.

“When we lined up, I just had a feeling I was going to go score,” he told ESPN. “And that’s what happened.”

Dobbins has had a lot to overcome recently — while playing for the Ravens, he tore his left ACL in 2021’s preseason, which benched him for the whole year. The following year, he had to undergo another surgery to clear up scar tissue that caused him to miss most of the 2022 season.

“It’s been a long process. I can only thank God for it. I give all credit to the lineman, though…I give all glory to God, too,” he said after returning to the field.

However, shortly after, he tore his Achilles tendon and was benched again for the rest of the season. Dobbins then signed with the Chargers, continuing to rely on God.

“No one believed me but I’m speaking the word of God,” Dobbins said. “I’m telling y’all what God’s telling me and showing me. A lot of people talk about my injuries and they were unfortunate. That storm might be over. You know what I’m saying? I think it’s over. I think God showed me what He needed to show me.”

“Pray. Work. Smile. Sleep. La fórmula!” he captioned a series of photos of him at the gym.
