Chargers RB ‘Walking With Jesus’ Amid Injury Comeback

By Movieguide® Contributor

The Los Angeles Chargers new running back J.K. Dobbins is one of the best ball carriers in the entire league, and he’s relying on God for his comeback after injuries put him out of the game.

“Dobbins leads the league with 266 rushing yards after two games, 19 more than the second name on the list, Jordan Mason of the San Francisco 49ers, despite 21 fewer carries. In fact, Dobbins’ 27 carries are the second fewest (behind only Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson‘s 21) among the top 15 leading rushers,” Sports Spectrum reported Sept. 17.

After missing the 2021 and most of the 2022 seasons due to an ACL tear, followed by an Achilles tear in 2023, Dobbins said he feels fully healed and trusts his body to take him through the entire 2024 season.

“My knee’s good,” Dobbins told CBS Sports reporter Melanie Collins. “It’s been a long process. I can only thank God for it. I give all credit to the lineman, though…I give all glory to God, too.”

“You got the injury-prone [label] out there, but I think the storm is over with, and I think I’m going to take off now,” he said after he secured his new contract with LA. “There’ll be no setbacks, and this injury-prone thing will be gone out the window.”

After his game on Sunday, Dobbins reiterated that God has a plan for him.

“No one believed me but I’m speaking the word of God,” he said. “I’m telling y’all what God’s telling me and showing me. A lot of people talk about my injuries and they were unfortunate. That storm might be over. You know what I’m saying? I think it’s over. I think God showed me what He needed to show me.”

“I’m walking with Jesus on this journey,” he posted on X after the game.

After his dominant performance in week 1, he told CBS after the game, “I’ve been praying hard, working hard, and it’s no surprise to me. Because of the work I’ve put in, because of the prayers I’ve put in, I know that God had something for me.”

The Chargers face a tough Pittsburgh Steelers team on the road in week 3, and Dobbins is hopeful he can keep his momentum alive.
