BACHELOR star Madison Prewitt Troutt has a little one on the way!
“We are officially going to have a baby!” Madi’s husband Grant announced with her on her “Stay True” podcast Aug. 19. “I can’t believe it! I’m so happy. I’m so excited.”
“I can’t believe it either. It’s happening. My stomach is starting to get big,” Madi shared. “…We’re over the moon, like truly…I don’t know, there might be some tears or just some joy or just some laughter on this podcast.”
The couple are absolutely thrilled to be parents.
“I just can’t wait to be a dad,” Grant said.
“He’s going to be the best dad,” Madi added.
“And you’re going to be such an amazing mom,” he replied.
Madi found out she was pregnant on May 19, Pentecost Sunday.
“I am cramping okay, and I’m like okay, that’s not abnormal because I’m about to start my period,” Madi recalled about the morning she found out. “And so I’m thinking it’s period cramps, but I am a crazy person, and…I have 45 pregnancy tests at our house just in case, and so I’m like huh let me just take a pregnancy test just to like see because you know we did kind of try….I truly thought…it’s going to say not pregnant.”
“So I take the pregnancy test or whatever. I’m like waiting…I’m running around, getting dressed. I’m like not even paying attention, and I see pregnant, and I said, ‘What?’ Like not expecting it at all, and I didn’t believe it,” she explained. “I think I took two more…and so I had like two or three total because I was like I don’t believe it, and every single one of them said pregnant, and I’m like shaking. I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m pregnant, but I can’t tell Grant yet because this is his last week of work.'”
So Madi kept it secret for a week and had several close calls where people almost found out. When the end of the week finally came, Madi had a gift for Grant.
“I get to the door, and she met me at the door, and she’s like, ‘Okay close your eyes and…I closed my eyes and like guys my mind could not have been farther from this. Like we were not really — like it just wasn’t — my mind wasn’t there, and I close my eyes, and she’s leading me into our kitchen,” Grant said.
“So I open my eyes, and the first thing I see is this like wooden frame, and it says we’re having a baby,” he said. “And I look down, and it’s the pregnancy test, and it says pregnant, and then right next to that is this little baby Jordan shoe and behind the Jordan shoe is the same type of shoe but my size matching shoes, and guys, I kid you not, like I felt like an out-of-body, like a third person view. Like I could not believe what I was seeing, and I just looked at her, and I feel like I froze for like five seconds and I was like, ‘Are you serious?”
After one of the most “surreal” moments of Grant’s life, he hugged Madi, who told him that she had hidden the secret from him for a week.
“It was really special. So sweet,” Madi said. “I got to like order the gifts and really take that time honestly throughout the week to just pray and process with Jesus, and of course, I wish like I…could have told Grant a little bit sooner, but it worked out.”
The couple posted maternity, ultrasound pics and a slide of a white, heart-shaped cake that said “Baby Troutt” on Instagram Aug. 18. Madi announced, “WE’RE PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!! Baby Troutt we are SO ready for you and can’t wait to meet you ??”
“We are so grateful for this little miracle,” they added in another post.
Movieguide® reported on the couple’s thoughtful preparation for marriage in 2022:
Prewett and Troutt’s faith is “the foundation” of their relationship and the couple’s counselor is also “a person of faith.”
“That’s been helpful to be able to talk about our faith and our beliefs and have that be a large part of the conversation,” Prewett explained. “She’s a licensed counselor, and so it brings also the practical side of things, whereas I feel like if we would’ve just gone through a church, we would’ve maybe missed some of that.”
“I’m really thankful for how we actually ended up landing on going to an actual counselor,” she concluded. “And I think we’ve done two sessions so far. I think we have five or six more, so fingers crossed that it keeps going well.”
