Clemson Football On Fire for Jesus: ‘Glory Goes to the Good Lord’

Clemson football beat SMU on Saturday night to secure the ACC Championship, and the team praised God.
“First of all let me just say, thank you to the good Lord,” head coach Dabo Swinney said after the game.
Clemson will now head to the College Football playoffs, but before the game, they weren’t sure if they would make it.
“Listen, God works in mysterious ways and we all thought that the door was closed on us, but, you know, this was God’s plan for us,” Swinney continued. “That’s all I can tell you. I mean, God just opened the door and they fought their butts off. This was the two best teams in the league. This is what a championship game should look like. I’m disappointed we didn’t do a little better to finish it, but man, a great college football game.”
“I’m just humbled and blessed,” he added. “I’ve been in a lot of these and it never gets old. All I can say is every bit of any glory goes to the good Lord upstairs because this was His plan for us.”
Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik echoed Swinney in his post-game press conference, reflecting on how Syracuse’s win over Miami sent Clemson to the ACC Championship game.
“Syracuse wins and I literally sprint downstairs and I tackle Ronan Hannafin, my roommate, and I’m just screaming of joy,” Klubnik said. “Just when you think that God is closing the door, He’s opening one up. We just had to trust in Him and I just trusted in Jesus, that He was gonna make a way through it all.”

“That’s something the coach has been preaching to us and that’s something that I truly believe,” he continued. “You know, God’s gonna go and do things that we don’t quite understand, but in the end He’s always gonna get the glory, and it’s always gonna be for a purpose. So, I just really just had to lean on my foundation.”
