As Nancy Guthrie, mother of TODAY host Savannah Guthrie, is still missing, her neighbors have shown support by tying yellow ribbons around trees and leaving yellow flowers throughout the neighborhood.
“It’s important to show support for your neighbors, especially in a very trying time like this,” said one of Nancy’s neighbors in Catalina Foothills, Arizona.
Casas Adobes Flower Shop has been busy with Valentine’s orders but made it a priority to help those requesting flowers to support the search for Nancy, TODAY reported.
“We’re happy to be able to contribute. If it brings any comfort or relief to the family, it’s nice to be able to give them that,” owner Matt Biggs said. He also explained the meaning behind the color yellow: “It’s typically a sign of hope and support, versus other colors that might be more sympathetic.”
One area in the neighborhood has a large sign: “Dear Guthrie family, your neighbors stand with you.” At its base sit several vases and pots of flowers.

“We all feel like we love them. We’ve taken them in as our own and my heart breaks,” local resident Lynne McCane said. “Everyone feels like they are going through it with her. We are with her.”
TODAY host Hoda Kotb said everyone feels helpless, so this is all they can do.
“It extends from beyond Tucson as well,” Carson Daly added. “I think nationally people feel that way.”
It’s now been over two weeks since Nancy was abducted from her home.
Savannah shared a video on Feb. 13: “I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe.”
She addressed her mom’s abductor: “I wanted to say to whoever has her, or knows where she is, that it’s never too late. You are not lost or alone. It is never too late to do the right thing.”
She said she and her family still believe that she can be returned safely.
“We believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late,” she said.
In a video on Feb. 9, Savannah said, “Just want to say, first of all, thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt — my sister and brother and I — and that our mom has felt,” she said. “Because we believe that somehow, some way, she is feeling these prayers, and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place.”
The FBI has received thousands of tips about Nancy’s disappearance and has searched terrain near her home. They found a glove that they believe belongs to the perpetrator and are currently analyzing it.
Please continue to pray for the Guthrie family.
