Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Fans’ Help to Locate Her Missing Mom

TODAY anchor Savannah Guthrie asked for fans around the country for help as the search from her mother, Nancy Guthrie, extends into its second week.

“I just want to say first off, thank you for all the prayers and the love that we have felt, my sister, my brother and I. And that our mom has felt. Because we believe that some how, some way, that she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in the darkest place,” Savannah said in a video posted to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 9. “We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help.”

“So I’m coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report [it] to law enforcement,” she pleaded. “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”

Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1 after one of her friends noticed she did not attend church. When her family went to check on her later that morning, they found her missing and reported the information to local authorities. Further investigation revealed signs that Nancy did not leave her home of her own will.

This heartbreaking belief was confirmed when the family received a ransom note on Feb. 8 demanding millions of dollars in return for Nancy’s safe return. The deadline written in the note passed on Monday, and there is no evidence that the Guthries chose to pay it, seemingly partially because they were given no sign of life with the note, nor was there any guarantee that their mother would be safely returned upon payment.

As the family continues to weigh their options and face this terrible situation, they are leaning on their faith and continue to ask fans for prayers.

“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” Savannah wrote early in the investigation. “We need you.”

Please continue to keep the Guthrie family in your prayers as they hope that their mother will miraculously be safely returned and that this situation can somehow have a redeeming end despite how desperate it currently seems.
