Country Music Star Colt Ford Asks for Prayers After Heart Attack

After suffering from a heart attack following a performance last week, country singer and rapper Colt Ford is in stable condition, though he remains in the ICU.
“Ford remains in the ICU, with his condition steadily improving in a positive direction,” his team said in a statement. “At this time, his family is requesting privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers.”
The country star suffered a heart attack on April 5 after performing at the Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row venue in Gilbert, Arizona. He has been receiving his treatment at the Intensive Care Unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
The heart attack follows a string of medical complications the 54-year-old has faced in recent years. In 2021, Colt was diagnosed with eye cancer and began chemotherapy less than two weeks later to combat the disease.
He returned to performing almost immediately after treatment, with many friends and fans concerned about his health.
“I had so many friends asking, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’” Colt said at the time. “But I just thought everyone was dealing with so much stress and stuff.”
The diagnosis and treatment changed his outlook on life and helped him realize that he still has a lot he would like to accomplish before he goes.
“I thought to myself… all the dumb s— I have done, I could have killed myself multiple times and this is what’s going to take me out?” he said. “I know darn well that God never puts anything on you that you can’t handle, but the Lord might have a lot more confidence in me than I thought.”
After beating the cancer, the singer was later diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disorder—myasthenia gravis—which targets his face, eyes and throat.
“It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye,” Ford told Taste of Country last May. “[I] had no control over my right eye.”
“It really messes with your vision,” he continued. “I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together and I’d see three of you and you would be melting together like a lava lamp.”
Please keep Ford in your prayers as he continues to recover from his recent heart attack.
