Canada’s Macleans national news magazine reported recently that children as young as 8-years-old are viewing and getting hooked on pornography that’s easily available on the Internet.
Effects of such pornography on children can include a warped sense of sex and romance, exposure to deadly sexually transmitted diseases, a negative view of women, acting out violent fantasies, and addiction that can interfere with school work, family life and friendships.
“Coke users can get the drug out of their system, but pornographic images stay in the brain forever,” Dr. Mary Ann Layden, co-director of the Sexual Trauma and Psychopathology Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Cognitive Therapy, notes.
