Tom Selleck embraces a slower pace of life following the end of long-running series BLUE BLOODS.
“Tom’s finally taking his foot off the gas, and it’s a huge comfort to everyone who cares about him,” a source told Closer Weekly of the actor. “For years, he was go-go-go around the ranch, tearing around on his ATV, and taking on projects like he was still in his 40s, but these days, he’s embracing a much more low-key routine.”
The source added that Jillie, his wife of 38 years, is “grateful he’s listening to his body and slowing down,” adding, “She’s been urging him for years to slow down and be more mindful.”
While Selleck might be enjoying a less-busy schedule these days, another source told Closer Weekly that he still has his eye on work.
“Tom is happiest when he is working,” the insider explained. “He does not view acting as a chore or something he has to do just for the money, it invigorates him.”
In fact, Selleck already has a project in the works: a new JESSE STONE movie!

Per a Good Housekeeping article, the new movie’s synopsis reads, “Paradise Police Chief Jesse Stone is experiencing a familiar ennui-writing parking tickets and bemoaning his presence in a small town where “nothing much” ever seems to happen. Suddenly Jesse is swept up in the exigencies of making sense of an unexplained death — was it a suicide or, as Jesse suspects, a murder?”
Selleck teased the movie in an interview with TV Insider, sharing, “It looks like now I might have to write [a script for another JESSE STONE movie.]. It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later.”
“But I need to regroup; I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing, I’m going to keep working,” he concluded.
In an interview with Parade, Selleck said of the project, “It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now. There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another JESSE STONE?’”
While Selleck is currently enjoying a slower life and time spent with family, it’s clear the actor can’t wait to get back on set and in front of the camera.
