When it comes to dealing with haters online, Matthew and Emily West they say, “Shake It Off.”

In a discussion on the Christian singer’s podcast, the couple reflected on a time where someone online called Matthew a “narcissist.”

“Did you see that comment on our podcast post when somebody called us narcissist?” Matthew asked. “What was that all about? Was it because we were talking about our family?”

Emily responded, “I don’t know…Well, I went back and listened to the clip, and you asked me a question, and then you were talking.”

“Oh, they thought I was like, interrupting?” Matthew asked. “Yeah, but you weren’t,” Emily said.

The couple noted that the profile had three followers and was likely a bot.

“’Haters gonna hate,’ said Taylor Swift one time,” Matthew joked. “Shake it off, Emily,” he quipped.

Despite haters, the Wests are enjoying their summer. In a recent post to Instagram, Matthew said, “Summertime is off to a great start and my family is all back together! Been in the studio, sharing meals with the girls, and hanging out with Rocky!”

“So happy for you and your family! ❤️” one fan commented. Another person added, “Aww 🥰 what a beautiful blessed family.”

The couple recently attended an awards show, and Emily shared that she let her Instagram followers choose her dress.

“You looked gorgeous,” Matthew told his wife. “Thank you,” she said.

Matthew continued, “I think you let your Instagram followers pick what your outfit was going to be?”

“Right, I had four dresses, and I couldn’t decide, and honestly the one I wore was probably number four on my list,” Emily explained.

Despite the dress not being her first choice, she trusted her fans’ judgement.

“They were all like ‘We really like that one.’ …That’s the one people voted for, just being silly…and I wore the one they chose,” she explained.

“I think they picked well,” Matthew said.

The Wests are a great reminded that no matter what haters have to say about you, it is important to support one another and focus on those you support you.

Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” When people are hateful, give your attention to those who love you and stick up for you no matter what.
