Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Uses Gifts to ‘Serve God and Others’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS star Claire Wolford says being part of the iconic cheer team has made her faith “so much stronger.”
“I never thought [cheerleading] was something I wanted to do,” she explained in an episode of the “Happy and Healthy” podcast. “The sports-entertainment world was not even on my mind.”
Wolford was more interested in commercial dancing and planned to move to New York or Los Angeles. However, as her college graduation got closer, she started to rethink things.
“One day I feel like I just had a heart change on it, and I was like, ‘Okay, you need to do something that’s going to impact other people, too…you’ve been given this gift, but how are you going to use it to serve God and others?’” she said.
After “praying for a long time” and talking to friends who suggested trying out for the Cowboys cheer team, Wolford decided to audition.
“It was something I was craving and knew I needed,” she said. “I didn’t know it was going to happen, but when I met all the girls through the audition, I was like, ‘Wow, these are amazing women. A lot of them have faith and are strong and motivated, and I want to be around these people.’ And so I just never looked back.”
Wolford called her teammates “smart and truly motivating,” praising them for their hard work and passion.
She also shared that being a part of the Dallas Cowboys cheer team has strengthened her faith.
“It’s made my faith so much stronger,” Wolford said. “We do have Bible studies that we’ve had since I was on the team, and I’ve had so many mentors and girls who have just led me in my faith, and I hope to do the same for other girls.”
Wolford often speaks about her Christian faith.
In her bio on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders’ website, she said the one thing she can’t live without is “The Good Lord,” adding, “He’s the reason for everything I am and do!”
One of Wolford’s Instagram posts from last year celebrating the beginning of the season reads, “Kicking off the season with the best support system I could ask for ? thank you Jesus!!!”
Movieguide® previously reported on another Cowboys cheerleader:
A Dallas Cowboy cheerleader named McKenzie traveled to South Korea to honor current American soldiers and their families.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, McKenzie said, “I think it’s easy to take being an American and being free for granted, just because we’re in the hustle and bustle of our day jobs and staying busy. But I think the moment that we’re able to slow down, and the Cowboys were supporting us on this journey and this tour, you see these people. They’ve left their families. A lot of families moved with them to South Korea, and it became a whole family affair.”
“It’s not just the people serving [who] are making the sacrifices,” she added. “It affects so many people down the line. But just watching them in uniform, learning about the service dogs or learning about the equipment that they use, it just gives you a better perspective about what it means to be free and what these people do so that we can be free.”
