Biblical epic DANIEL: THE FIERY FURNACE is set to make its US debut this fall.

The movie “is the origin story from the Old Testament of the prophet Daniel against the backdrop of his exile in Babylon,” per Variety.

DANIEL: THE FIERY FURNACE is directed and produced by brothers Matthew and Daniel Kooman and stars Mena Massoud and THE CHOSEN’s Elijah Alexander. The movie was acquired by EKKL Entertainment for US distribution.

“The Kooman Brothers have been making impactful and inspiring films for two decades, and EKKL looks forward to bringing their latest endeavor to the big screen on the global scale which it deserves,” Michael Scott, founder of EKKL, said in a statement. “The universal messages of this film will resonate around the world.”

The Kooman Brothers added, “We are thrilled to partner with EKKL Entertainment to bring this story to a global audience hungry for Biblical stories. This film speaks to timeless truths about courage and standing firm in the face of impossible odds.”

The Koomans previously spoke to The Christian Post about the process of making DANIEL: THE FIERY FURNACE.

“We literally prayed before we made this movie: ‘God, if you’re not supposed to make this movie, don’t let us make this movie,’” Daniel said

Matthew shared that, for him and his brother, making faith-filled movies was the logical next step in their lives.

“We grew up in a home that loved the Bible, like the Bible was open at the dinner table, and we read it. My dad read the Bible stories. We went to Sunday school, did all the things,” Matthew explained. “As we grew into filmmaking, it was like, eventually we’ll make Bible movies. That was always on our hearts.”

In a 2025 conversation with The Christian Post, Daniel touched on how their faith influences the movie-making process.

“I don’t think you can make a Bible story without the Holy Spirit, at least not accurately,” he said. “It influences everything from script to screen.”

Daniel continued, “We have a team where many of the people are Spirit-filled. So you have that helper, that support system built in, where you’re getting direction and leaning on Scripture in a deeper way.”

“Our goal is sincerely to see people open the Word and be brought into the Word in a new way,” he said of his hopes for the movie’s effect on audiences.  “And for this generation, that means film. That’s how people are absorbing media — on their phones, in theaters, on TV. If we can pack that with faith-based content, we’ll be showing that there’s a demand — and that’s only going to help in the future.”

DANIEL: THE FIERY FURNACE premieres in theaters nationwide Sept. 11.
