Dave Coulier Shares Sweet Voicemail From Bob Saget: ‘I Love You’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dave Coulier just shared an emotional voicemail he saved from his late FULL HOUSE co-star Bob Saget.
“He hugged everyone,” Coulier said during a recent episode of his “FULL HOUSE Rewind” podcast. “And when you were going through a tough time, Bob was there for you.”
The actor shared that Saget was there to support him following the death of his brother.
“When my brother, Danny, took his own life in 2021, Bob was the first person who called me and left a voicemail,” Coulier said. “It was an audio hug. I loved Bob, and he loved me too, and I like to close this episode by playing that voicemail message that Bob left for me. And maybe someday, you can pass along the same kind of compassion to someone you love.”
In the voicemail, Saget says, “I know it’s not the time to call, but I’m right here. Twenty-four-seven, right now, right here. I love you, Dave. I’m so sorry, Dave. I’m so sorry. So I’m here, 24/7. Just call me anytime. Doesn’t have to be now, it could be a week. Whenever. I can just talk to you and listen. I love you so much.”
Coulier often talks about the strong bond he and Saget shared.
“It was an amazing friendship,” Coulier shared, adding that the two were in constant communication. “I’m still opening texts that he sent me; that’s how many he sent me.”
Coulier recently marked the two-year anniversary of Saget’s death with a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Bob was always hugging me,” the actor wrote under a picture of the pair arm-in-arm. “I sure miss those hugs. I sure miss Bob. I loved him so much.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Coulier and Saget’s friendship:
Dave Coulier remembered his FULL HOUSE co-star and friend, the late Bob Saget, in a recent interview.
“We made each other laugh,” Coulier shared. “And, you know, it was me, Bob and [the late] Garry Shandling, and Saget always had a three-way calling, so the three of us would be on the road, and Bob always would patch me and Garry in, and we were like three fifth graders.”
Coulier met Saget when he was just 18 years old and starting out as a young comic. He even ended up sleeping on Saget’s couch while they were filming and “became instant friends.”
The actor also shared what he would remember most about his FULL HOUSE days.
“We laughed our tails off,” Coulier said. “We had such a good time that we still talk about the stories when we get together,” he said. “We are very close. We are a very — it is almost insane that a TV show becomes a real family. But we did.”
“We have been there for everything from, you know, the start of our show to the cancellation of our show from being no-names to being huge names from births, divorces, deaths, marriages — you name it. We have been through it like a real family,” he concluded.
