DeVon Franklin will bring GRACE, a new “faith-based detective drama,” to CBS after extending his deal with the studio for two more years.

Per Deadline, “GRACE follows a true-blue detective known for his brash, cynical style and a passionate, community-focused pastor who wears her heart on her sleeve reluctantly partner to solve complex crimes as they debate their divergent beliefs while attempting to ignore their growing chemistry.”

Franklin, founder of Franklin Entertainmentshared his excitement for the new show on social media.

“When the strikes hit and my deal was suspended, I thought that may have been the end of my tv production company,” he began. “However we sometimes think God is putting a period in our careers where He’s actually putting a comma!”
“I’m beyond excited and grateful to announce my TV deal with@cbstvstudios has been extended! So grateful is to extend my relationship with the CBS family,” he added. “Underneath my deal extension, I’ll be producing a New Faith-Based Detective Drama called GRACE for @cbstv GRACE is being written by the talented brothers, @devon_greggory and Corey Moore.”

In addition to GRACE, Franklin is also the executive producer of the BET drama KINGDOM BUSINESS.
KINGDOM BUSINESS follows the journey of “an exotic dancer with a powerful voice [who] rises from the pole to the pulpit, forcing the reigning queen of gospel to guard her family’s many secrets.”
Franklin often shares scripture and inspiring content on his social media platforms.
He recently shared, “To unlock your own feeling of greater purpose, ask yourself: If I’m truly honest with myself, what is my heart really calling me to do?

Franklin explained further in the caption: “Stop letting what everyone else will say or think dictate your future! Putting all fear aside, I want you to be HONEST in asking yourself, ‘What is my heart calling me to do?'”

“This is your sign to do that! That dream that keeps you up at night, that goal that lingers in your mind that you feel so passionate about…IS YOUR PURPOSE,” he added.

Movieguide® previously reported on Franklin:

Actor and Producer DeVon Franklin appeared on Variety’s Strictly Business podcast to discuss his moviemaking philosophy.

“Storytelling is powerful and storytelling unites us all. And no matter how the mediums change, what doesn’t change is our human connection to great stories,” Franklin told co-editor and chief of Variety, Cynthia Littlehorn. “I just try to stay focused on that, like, okay, finding great stories and then doing my best to find studios and streamers and companies that I can work with to fund those great stories.”

For Franklin, getting the story told is the win. He got into moviemaking because he wanted to make a change in the world. When he went through a difficult time as a child, movies were his therapy; they were how he found healing and what lifted him out of a dark time. He strives to tell stories with that power in every one of his projects.

He pursues projects that he believes will make the world a better place and creating high-quality content is more important to him than where that content gets distributed.
