DUCK DYNASTY Star Warns Against ‘Casual’ Disobedience Towards God
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff is warning us against the dangers of what some might think of as “casual” disobedience towards God.
“I think so often, we act so casual about disobeying God, and there’s nothing casual about it. There’s nothing casual about disobedience,” she said in a video clip posted to her Instagram. “There’s always a storm. Sin is always going to lead to destruction.”
Huff continued, “The thing is, though, we can just get so comfortable, even in our disobedience, because we ignore our convictions so often that we find a way to sleep in the chaos. That we find things that mimic peace. And we think because we feel kind of peaceful, because we can sleep, that it must be okay. But friend, it’s not okay. The storm’s about to break the ship.”
She compared it to taking a boat ride and feeling the first big waves, thinking you should maybe turn back. However, after a little while, you could peacefully sleep through the waves that frightened you before.
“The same waves that once rocked your conscience awake…are now the same waves that you’re sleeping in,” Huff continued. “And I want to point that out because I think some of you might think that, you know, just because it doesn’t feel as bad anymore, it’s not still sin. But sin doesn’t become less sinful because it feels less bad. Sin doesn’t become less sinful because you got used to it. You quenched the spirit. You seared your conscience.”
Huff delivered this sermon at this year’s Passion Conferences, where she also spoke about the importance of being truly obedient to God’s word.

“The first passion was more than we could have ever imagined,” Huff wrote in an Instagram post. “What a gift to be in a room full of people who WANT GOD! May we leave here and live our life fully for the Glory Of God!”
Huff recently reflected on 2024 and shared her hopes for the year ahead.
“Thank you, Lord, for 2024 – grateful to step into 2025,” she wrote on Instagram. “My word for this year is presence. There is an LO worship song called ‘Presence,’ and it’s my inspiration for the year. It starts with the words, ‘I’m learning to rest and sit at your feet…. In all the distractions, all of the noise, I just want to hear your still, small voice. Your presence is precious to me. I won’t let anything get between us.’”
Huff added, “That is my prayer for the year: that I seek the presence of the Lord morning and evening. I also want to be intentional about where my feet are… If I’m there, I’m present there!! hold me to it.”
